Preparing Creation – Assignment Three – A Narrative Photograph – Sketchbook

This was a narrative sequence that I am very fond of, but I am not going to submit this for my assignment. The narrative is good and I am pleased with the photos. However these are going into my digital sketchbook. I like the narrative but I find it to be a bit of a cliche. Maybe thats because I’m a birder and find this kind of narrative is too staright forward.

  1. It might seem like a cliché to you as a birder but not to a non-birder. It must have taken some careful reconnoitring to get the right angles. I know just enough to know how difficult it must have been. In other words – great stuff.

    1. Thankyou pat. I spent around 90 minutes sitting, watching and shooting to get those. I appreciate your view as a non birder. I’m fascinated by the intricacy of the bonding around breeding, but I also see it so often that it feels routine as well as fascinating.

  2. Marvellous images of a narrative that never ceases to inspire Richard. However often seen the skill, resilience and sheer beauty of all natural creatures unencumbered by the constraints we homo sapiens have placed upon ourselves is truly humbling.

    1. In total agreement with you Sarah. My intent is to go to Bempton on Monday and see if I can see some baby puffins. Ill see baby guillemots, razor bills and gannets for sure. How do they nest on those tiny ledges?
